Trinity Cathedral is proud to be the recipient of a votive table commemorating those killed on September 11, 2001. The votive table sculpture was commissioned by the Assisting Bishop of the Diocese in 2001, the Rt. Rev. David Joslin, on behalf of the Diocese and Trinity Cathedral, as a memoriam to the members of our Diocese who were tragically lost in the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001. It was designed through a simplification to scale of a lower Manhattan skyline as seen from New Jersey. The intention is to be at once obvious and serene; to be readily accessible and invoke prayer from within the viewer. Welded by liturgical artist, Philip Bohdan Carr-Jones, of Lebanon, NJ, the table is made from various dimensional steel tubing, angle and flat stock. Normally, votive tables are filled with sand. This one is filled with crushed concrete and dust.  (The Rev. Philip Carr-Jones works in varied mediums including metal, ceramic, glass, fabric, wood and words.  He recently retired from Church of the Holy Spirit, Lebanon.)

This week we will bag food for the Food Pantry – We can use assistance the Thursday prior to each Pantry date. This week’s bagging day is Thursday, September 12th at 4:45 pm.

We are coming down the home stretch our 20th Anniversary Bishop George E. Councell Memorial Golf Outing on October 14th! We need the support of our parishioners for this, the biggest fundraiser of the year! Do you golf, or play pickleball? If you or someone you know is interested, we would love to have your participation. The new pickleball challenge includes play for beginners and experienced players! If you’d just like to join us for food and fellowship after the tournament, you can buy a ticket for the dinner reception for just $40. Registration forms are on the small table just outside of Synod Hall. Or, you can sign up on the clipboards by the Golf Outing display in Synod Hall!

Can you contribute a bottle of wine or a gift basket to the Golf Outing? Each year, we have a prize raffle at the dinner reception that would greatly benefit from gift basket donations. Gift cards are also welcome, in any amount! We also feature an exciting “Cork Pull”, where guests purchase a chance to pull a cork and win a bottle of wine. The Golf Committee would be grateful for donations of wine (valued at $20) – this is an easy item to bring to church on Sunday (please give it to Willie Coleman), or drop it off at the Cathedral office. Please have donations in by the end of September.

From August-April, Althia Muse will be offering bi-weekly confirmation classes for anyone seeking confirmation by our bishop on Holy Saturday (April 19, 2025.)  Ideally, we will meet alternating Thursdays and some Sundays using both in-person and virtual platforms.  Participants will also learn about and support various ministries at the Cathedral. Anyone interested should contact Althia at (609) 802-2303.

At our meeting on June 10, the Vestry, in support of Episcopal Community Services (ECS), voted to be a sustaining member of ECS for 2024. The contribution for a sustaining member is $3,000. Please feel free to contribute this effort as you are able. (Checks can be made payable to Trinity Cathedral, with “ECS” on the memo line, and put in the collection plate or sent to the office.)

The next Food Pantry distribution date is – Saturday, September 14th (2nd & 4th Saturdays this month) from 9-11:00 am. Each Thursday, we distribute hot dinners “to go” from 4:15–5:30pm at the Overbrook Avenue entrance as a satellite location for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.
