March 2024

Dear Friends;

March is Women’s History Month and I’m delighted to welcome to our pulpit four women of distinction: The Rev. Dr. Sushama Austin-Connor, Kimme Carlos, The Rev. Genevieve Bishop, and The Rt. Rev. Sally Johnson French.

On February 24th Andrea, Fay Manicke, Bobbie Powell, Bernard McMullan and myself were delighted to be present at the Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie as Susan and John Gummere were the recipients of the Golden Baton Award for their contributions to the Arts, presented by the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey.

Bishop Sally French also participated in her first Absalom Jones Service of Witness to Black Ministry celebration at the Cathedral on February 18th.

On February 27th, we hosted a Prayer Breakfast sponsored by NJ Faith Allies and the Diocese of New Jersey as we continue to push for Bill A602, the formation of a committee to study the case for Reparations.

We thank God for the first set of persons trained in CPR: Bill and Ginny Harmer, Bobbie Powell, Mary Johnson, Deborah McConnaughey, Jane and Peter Bridge and Winifred Daniels.

I’m pleased to announce that Canon Arthur Powell will be our new coordinator of decorations and floral arrangements at the Cathedral. Thanks once more to Susan Remmers for her invaluable efforts over many years!

To God be the Glory.

Your Friend and Dean,
