It’s Wreath Sale time again! – Order now and get a leg up on your Christmas preparation. Friday afternoon, December 5th is wreath decorating time. Sunday December 7th is the pick-up date, before or after the 10 AM service. Remember that the wreath sale and Christmas sale are fundraisers for the Cathedral, so please lend your support if possible. We will only decorate as many as are ordered, so don’t be disappointed this year! Plan also to check out the mini Christmas sale in Synod Hall before and after Sunday service on pick up weekend. We have some beautiful Christmas bargains this year! If you are interested and able, lend a hand to the decorating process. No time to decorate? Order a wreath or two! SAVE THE DATE – Guggenheim fellow, jazz violinist Gwen Laster and her friends help us celebrate the “return of light” on the Winter Solstice, December 21st at 4:00 pm. Presented by the Cathedral Arts Series at Trinity (CAST.) Please see Bobbie Powell or a member of CAST for tickets.
UrbanPromise Trenton’s Christmas Shop: Can you help to stock the shelves? – Every year at this time UrbanPromise Trenton sets up a Christmas Shop at each site in Trenton to allow the children in the program to “buy” gifts for their families… moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Some of the most popular items are small appliances (toasters, coffeemakers, crockpots), hats and gloves of course, slippers, wallets, bath towels, chocolates, candles, spa-like things… hand lotion, body wash, or whatever you think might be a good gift to give or receive. Be creative! DO NOT wrap the gift. The children will take care of that. Leave them here at church in the office, with a sticky note that says UPT. Questions? Angel Tree Prison Fellowship – Donations of wrapping paper, ribbons/bows, and large gift bags are always welcomed. We will also need volunteers to wrap gifts and/or to greet the children and their caregivers in Synod Hall on the day gifts are distributed (Dec. 20th). Exact dates for the gift wrapping will be announced in early December. Join us in this ministry that transforms lives and brings joy to prisoners and their families at Christmas time! If you are looking for a way to become more involved with the operation of our Cathedral, please see the volunteer bulletin board just inside the parking lot doors. Here you will find posted opportunities to volunteer at the Cathedral, big and small. If you would like to advertise a volunteer opportunity, you can create your own flyer or use the form on the literature table in the main hallway.
The next Food Pantry distribution date is – Saturday, December 13th (2nd & 4th Saturdays this month) from 9-11:00 am. Each Thursday, we distribute hot dinners “to go” from 4:15–5:30pm at the Overbrook Avenue entrance as a satellite location for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.
