Ministries
Acolytes
The ministry of acolytes is open to all
parishioners from third graders through to adults. To
be an acolyte is to be a minister serving at the altar of God,
handling holy things, assisting the priest and deacon, and
helping everyone at church see something of the goodness and
glory of God. Training for acolytes is provided.
Altar Guild
The Cathedral Altar
Guild is a prayerful group of men and women who support the
services in the Cathedral and Chapel in the traditional manner
for regular Sunday services and the many other celebrations held
in these spaces, including Diocesan events.

Food Pantry/Soup Kitchen
For more than a decade, the
Trinity Cathedral Food Pantry has distributed bags of
non-perishable groceries on Saturday mornings to needy families
in the Trenton community. It is open 9:00-11:00 am on alternate
Saturdays. It serves an average of 30-50 walk-up recipients per
session, most of them regular patrons. It also gives out
turkeys with "all the trimmings" for Thanksgiving. The Pantry served 1,599 adults and
790 children on separate instances in 2009.
Trinity
Cathedral also serves as a satellite feeding site for the
Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK.) Each Thursday from 5:00 - 6:30
pm, hot meals are served in our parish hall (Synod Hall.) You
can join us to eat dinner or to volunteer to serve meals.
Health and Wellness Ministry
Our Health and Wellness Ministry offers
health education classes that strive for an optimal state of
health for all people. Certified health professionals offer
prevention education on chronic illnesses (cancer, diabetes,
heart disease) as well as relaxation and stress reduction
techniques. We provide a free continental breakfast, full lunch
and parking to all participants! These forums are co-sponsored
by St. Francis Medical Center and Johnson and Johnson Consumer
Products – The Caregiver Initiative. Please check our
website for upcoming classes or call the office at (609)
392-3805 x 100!
Lay Eucharistic Ministers
Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) assist with the
celebration of the
Eucharist and
particularly with serving the chalice at the altar rail.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers bring Communion to
community members
unable to come physically to the Cathedral, including the
residents of
Mercer County Geriatric Center. LEMs are trained and then
licensed by the Bishop.
Pastoral Care
Church volunteers help homebound elderly and disabled persons
feel part of the Cathedral community through many acts of
kindness. The Transportation Ministry provides a ride to and from church
to parishioners needing transportation. And Cathedral
Caregivers help needy residents with shopping, transportation
and other assistance. Training for these volunteers is
mandatory.
Other Volunteer
Opportunities
Serving the Cathedral in a lay function – from being a LEM to
ushering, furnishing flower arrangements, gardening or cleaning
up the grounds, reading the lessons or coordinating a Cathedral
group – a form of ministry. It gives
parishioners an opportunity to be at the heart of our worship
and is an excellent way to become involved in the spiritual life
of our parish. For more information on how you can serve
Trinity in this profound and personal way, please contact a
staff person or vestry member.
